“Sara is an excellent ghostwriter. Her attention to detail is brilliant and incredibly useful for tracking the direction of travel and spotting content gaps. While working with Sara, we created content on a wide range of topics, and she was never phased by the variety. Her topic research and keyword research are always exceptional and allowed me to clearly visualise where each of my chosen topics was going. Sara played a pivotal role in helping me take my current content strategy from a vague idea to a strategy I now use across multiple websites and teach others how to implement.”
The Challenge: Scaling Quality Without Burning Out Capacity
When you are building a monetised blog on your own, there comes a time when scale means putting more hands on keyboards. And that can be tricky. You see, it isn’t just about having the idea to publish a bigger editorial calendar; it’s about getting great content from great writers without everyone succumbing to burnout. It’s also about understanding what will work, and what will interest your audience at scale.
But what if you want to keep authorship under your name?
Fran from The Happy Journals was very keen to go this route, and this is where finding the right ghostwriter mattered.
Right now, the journaling space is trending upward; people are realising that keeping a journal can be beneficial in so many ways. So it’s the perfect time to publish scaled content that meets fresh, intentional searches, answers questions, and shows readers where they could take their practice.
Each piece for this client also needed a delicate balance because they already had an audience. The Happy Journals has worked hard to build that community, and a new writer needed to build on it with next-step articles, deeper looks, and practice-adaptation tips.
The challenge was finding the right ghostwriter. Someone who can capture the brand voice, personal writing traits, and contribute to research and ideation for those articles. That’s where I came in. I have been blogging since 2007 and have built both readership breadth and depth, plus SEO traction for the blogs I have worked on.
The Strategy & Approach: Intent-Based Topic Clusters
When I first started working with Fran at The Happy Journals, I read as much of her work as I could. I wanted a feel for her style and how she approached writing. The beautiful thing about working with Fran is that she’s a very open book. She wants you to succeed. So I asked as many questions as I needed to understand tone of voice and brand vocabulary.
When she asked me to get more involved in content design, I jumped at the chance. This space fascinates me, and it was an opportunity to learn what new intent existed among potential and existing audiences in the SERPs. And Fran is a pleasure to work with in this respect; she enjoys collaboration and getting into the research and data. That makes the process of content mapping so much easier.
I designed structured content clusters around search intent, topical depth, and trend relevance. This allowed Fran to add seasonal or tangential content while also working on her other businesses. I built in logical paths to explore deeper into the site by authoring both long-form articles and bite-sized guides. I also considered where and how we could add affiliate and white-label product links.
My Results
While working with Fran between November 2024 and September 2026, I produced/maintained:
SEO Content Architecture: Structured topic blueprints mapping core pillars and their supporting articles.
Publication-Ready Ghostwritten Articles: High-depth, fully formatted long-form blog posts with metadata ready for immediate publishing.
Sustained Publishing Velocity: Solved capacity constraints by providing a regular, reliable stream of publish-ready content.
Intent-Driven Audience Capture: Built a strong content foundation designed to intercept searchers actively looking for journaling guidance and tools.
Brand-Preserving SEO: Delivered search-optimised content that maintained the nuanced, empathetic tone the journaling community expects.
Raised Product Awareness & Gave Space to New Products: Added entry points for readers to become customers for affiliate and white-label products, while also (where possible) suggesting new white-label concepts.
